Pot Metal Gears (For Cable Drive VDO Speedometers)
These pot metal replacements are machined from Delrin plastic which is far superior to the original pot metal and will last the life of the speedometer. (Pot metal, also called potmetal, is a soft metal alloy of lead and zinc.)
The pot metal replacement gears all have 20 teeth, but come in three thicknesses. Most Porsche and Mercedes odometers use the thickest one. You can order all three and return two for full credit if you want to have the gears before you pull the speedo. Or if you can wait for the parts, but don’t have a micrometer to measure the thickness, place the gears on a flat surface and compare to a small stack of coins. Use a straight edge across the odometer gear and stack for accuracy.
